What is the difference between noodles from a factory, from small-scale operations and from those that are rolled up at the family table? This is one of the typical questions in the movie “Pasta Connection”, explored by students at the Slow Food University of Gastronomic Sciences. They study the origin and quality of products and document their trips on video. Under the auspices of Michael Ballhaus documentations like this will create a multimedia encyclopedia of food.

Hunting out the perfect location can get real tiresome. Even with the whole world at your fingertips (yeah, we’ve been told, too, that it’s all on the internet) there are times when you simply are stuck.

Whether the red-tape stuff causes problems (again) or the chosen location suddenly is mega-hot or (God beware) the competitor of your client has already shot his current commercial there.

Well, we wouldn’t complain, for this is the very moment we frequently enter the scene. Film-Service Munich is one of the most experienced, most creative and most cross-linked film production services in Europe when it comes to find the right location.

We have tons and tons and tons of secret spots on file. We are proud to always come up with some fresh, individual and exceptionally not “shot to death” places for the requirements of our clients.

Also we do have the right contacts on the spot. We enjoy longstanding and excellent relationships with the locals. As we treat people and their customs, their environment and nature in general with respect and would not wantonly destroy or disturb we have a very good reputation. We can always return. We hear all the secret tips from first hand. We are invited to see things first and allowed to film places where others might fail to get an o.k.

Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland are quasi our home turf, but we’ve been to many other countries, too. So if you’re thinking about doing a shooting for let’s say in Turkey it won’t hurt if you call us first.

Every production is different. Sometimes you just need a pretty girl and a sunny garden to shoot a commercial that works perfect for launching the very new fragrance from fashion designer XYZ. On the other hand there are productions including helicopters, divers, ski-jumpers, a blue cow and a yellow submarine.

So before we pack our things and get going we have to sit down and talk. About your ideas and how we can put them into effect. A briefing helps of course, but as we have done lots of different jobs since the founding of Film-Service Munich in 1983 you can always count on our expertise. We work with well-rehearsed pros you can depend on.

But as we want to make your vision work we won’t spare you our advice. It’s simply a question of honour, ours just as well as yours. We all know too well: There is no trying! In the end nothing counts but the result. And we feel it has to be as perfect as possible.

As we know the film production business since the early Eighties, we have met and handled all kinds of equipment. We are familiar with each and any film technology available in the market – from classical ARRI cameras to purely digital productions – and we learnt to handle our equipment from the scratch.

We enjoy longstanding contacts with providers all over Europe and often manage some real good deals when renting what ever you need for your production.

But being what are we can’t help to alert you to the basic facts again: Even professional equipment won’t do the job if it’s not handled by a pro. Of course it helps having decent tools, so we don’t mind you spending a proper budget for the technical fixings. We are happy to handle them. Just trust us!
